Normandy and Brittany Photography Workshop
Join photographer Garry Black on a 10 day tour to some of the most beautiful and historic areas of Normandy and Brittany. This part of France is rich in history and stunning architecture During our tour we will visit many of the highlights of this area including the D-Day landing beaches and cemetaries of the second world war, the historic Bayeux tapestry, the dramatic rock of Mont-St-Michel with its abbey, and several picturesque medieval towns. You will experience the natural photographic beauty of this area with its gently rolling landscapes and wind-swept coastlines. You will also experience the historic beauty of this area as the past comes alive in the cobblestone streets of the towns that are filled with half-timbered and stone houses, as well as ancient churches and castles.
ITINERARY
SEPTEMBER 11 - Our tour begins in Rennes, the regional capital of Brittany. We will meet at our hotel in the late afternoon for a brief orientation. As the sun sets at 8:30 PM we will have plenty of time for photography before dinner. After breakfast the next morning, we will pick up our vans and begin our tour. One Night: Rennes
SEPTEMBER 12 - After stopping in Vitre, one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Brittany, we will make our way to Fougeres. This small town with its castle, gardens and medieval district is in a very picturesque setting. One Night: Fougeres
SEPTEMBER 13 - We will spend the morning photographing Fougeres. In the afternoon we will make our way to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Mont-St-Michel where we will have the opportunity to photograph both sunset and sunrise. One Night: Mont-St-Michel.
SEPTEMBER 14 & 15 - Early morning light at Mont-St-Michel before visiting the copper craftsmen town of Villedieu-les-Poeles and the majestic ruins of the Abbaye de Hambye. We will continue on to the town of Bayeux in Normandy. During our stay we will photograph the town, see the famous tapestry and spend a full day touring the D-Day landing beaches. Two Nights: Bayeux
SEPTEMBER 16 & 17 - We will travel to the medieval town of Dinan which provides a wealth of photographic opportunities. Two Nights : Dinan
SEPTEMBER 18 - Following a morning shoot in Dinan we will depart for the Emerald Coast of Brittany with its rugged coastline, cliffs, lighthouse and 14th Century stronghold of Fort La Latte. One Night: Cap Frehel
SEPTEMBER 19 - Morning coastline shoot before heading to the small village of Josselin with its famous castle on the banks of the Oust River. One Night: Josselin
SEPTEMBER 20 - Morning shoot in Josselin before heading to the picturesque small town of Rochefort-en-Terre. This afternoon return to Rennes where we will spend our last evening. One Night: Rennes
SEPTEMBER 21 - Final morning shoot before noon check-out and making our forward connections.

DETAILS
Tour Cost: $2795.00 CDN per person (double occupancy), this includes accommodation at 2 and 3 star hotels, breakfast daily, ground transportation by van throughout, and workshop tuition fee. Not included - transportation costs other than those provided during the tour, meals other than breakfast, entrance fees to museums or monuments and items of a personal nature.
Single rooms are subject to availability and will be assessed a supplement of $325 CDN. If requested, we will do our best to find a suitable roommate for individual travelers.
A discounted rate will apply for any non-photographing partner provided there is space available.
The workshop will not be strictly regimented. My goal is for you to experience a good photo tour as well as a memorable vacation.
There will be a maximum of 6 participants in the tour. Participants should be reasonably fit, as there will be a considerable amount of walking at most locations.
NOTES: Prices are based on the currency exchange rate today and could be adjusted.
We have chosen to begin and end this tour in the city of Rennes as there are direct TGV train connections to and from Paris Montparnasse and Charles de Gaulle International Airport.
