Question: Read your past replies about the Jobo CPP-2's. How much to get fully set up at this? Any other options? |
Answer: Jobo offers several cheaper processors than the CPP-2, they are (in order of most to least expense) the CPA-2, CPE-2 Plus and the DuoLab. The reason that I bought the CPP-2 instead of the CPA-2 is because of it's temperature control, which holds the temperature of the process to within +/- 0.1 deg C. It also has three knobs for setting the temperature, the tens, ones, and tenths of degrees while the CPA-2 only has one knob, so you have to fine tune it by slightly adjusting the knob and then waiting to see what temp that will give you. Jobo has a processor comparison web page that describes the differences of the processors. The other option that you have is to set up a water bath that will hold the temperature constant, and then you wouldn't need the Jobo. For this you should use stainless tanks and reels. The two most important variables in processing E-6 are the temp. and agitation (which you would do manually - it might take a couple of tries to get the right number of inversions of the tank and how frequently). Kodak provides suggested processing times, temperatures and the number and frequency of inversions for E-6 processing. Start up costs for my set up can be found here. |
