Question: Please tell me if I can make at home the cable release for Nikon f801. It is really expensive to buy one from the store... I made with a screwdriver the contact between the 2 pins, in bulb mode, and it worked. Does the original cable have some electronic parts, or is it entire mechanic? Can a homemade cable cause problems? |
Answer: There are
no electronic parts in the original cable release; it's really a very simple
construction. It is basically 2 wires with a special Nikon screw at one end
(to go into the camera body) and a plunger/contact mechanism at the end. From
what I can determine all the cable release does; is that it completes
the electric circuit, causing the shutter to release. I don't think a homemade
cable release would damage the camera. Hope this
helps you. |
